The Heart and Global Warming

Doctors have warned that gloal warming might now only force glaciers to melt and polar bears to go southward, but would also have an impact on the heart of many people in affected areas. Doctors warned that the warmer weather that is expected from the climate change could have an impact and produce more heart problems.

Doctors say that if the temperature is a few degrees warmer in the next 50 years, definitely, there would be more cardiovascular diseases. Some experts say that this matter be taken seriously, and should be given more attention. It is a well known fact that people have more heart problems when it is hot.

Problems with Heast Disease

1. Arteriosclerosis (say: ar-teer-ee-oh-skluh-row-sus). ANother terms is “hardening of the arteries”. This means that the arteries have become thickened and are no not anymore as flexible.

2. Atherosclerosis (say: ah-thuh-row-skluh-row-sus). People have a buildup of cholesterol. Fat makes the arteries narrower, such that less blood will be able to flow through. The deposits are called plaque.

3. Angina (say: an-jy-nuh). Pain is felt in the chest, such that the heart is not getting enough blood.

4. Heart attack. This happens when a blood clot or other blockage cut the flow of blood to the heart.

5. Stroke. This happens when part of the brain does not get enough blood because a clot or a blood vessel burst.
